Kitesurfing in Sri Lanka is BOOMING!

From May to September it BLOWS day and night at around 20 knots, peaking at 30 knots here in Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka. We are also blessed with a number of lagoons with flat water, wave riding spots in the Ocean and a number of islands with breathtaking sceneries, rich in nature and kitesurfing friendly conditions.

Also during the North-West monsoon, from end of December to March, kites are dancing in the sky. Wind is normally giving 17 – 20 knots, but you might find a pleasant surprise when the thermal wind kicks in. You want to escape the winter and kite in shorts?…

The inter-monsoonal periods, i.e. October, November, April are often calm.  The island is rich in many historical places, beaches, culture, natural parks, so there is a lot to do here anyway!

The accommodation facilities are growing in the area at a steady rate, so it has become possible to offer kiteboarders what they are looking for: wind, flat water and waves, tropical spots, kite schools, good value for money resorts and cleanliness, trips, surfaris, ADVENTURE!

Kitesurfing equipment is also available, as much of the best gear in the world is notoriously made in Sri Lanka and purchasing your toys here is a smart choice.
